One of the first items I switched on my journey to creating a healthier home for me and my family was my cleaning spray. I used to use kitchen counter spray that was filled with chemicals and synthetic fragrances; a cleaner that would burn my eyes and nose when I would use it. I thought in my mind that this is cleaning and sanitizing everything! I mean it says it’s antibacterial and kills all kinds of viruses. But little did I know the impact using that toxic cleaner had on my health and the health of my family.
I remember when my Memaw was cleaning one of her rent properties and she used ammonia and bleach to clean. I remember not being able to breathe, gasping for air, feeling a burning sensation, and ultimately having to go outside where there was fresh air. I was young at the time, but I remember it vividly. It wasn’t until I made the commitment to live a life 180 that I realized the impact of those types of cleaners on my body. Even though I have never used ammonia, probably due to that childhood experience, I have used so many other cleaners that are harmful.
Young Living’s Thieves Household Cleaner is the most amazing, non-toxic cleaner that gets the job done. What makes this so great is that it’s actually a concentrated liquid, so you only use a cap full and mix it with water in a glass spray bottle. You can also add vinegar for extra cleaning power if you’d like. I’ve done both; however, I do not prefer the vinegar smell in my household cleaner. Recently, I’ve added Christmas Spirit essential oil to my mixture which smells amazing!!! After all, it is Christmas time, and I love everything Christmas : )
Because the Thieves Cleaner is nontoxic, I do not have to worry about my two-year-old getting into it. Of course, I store the cleaner away from her, but if she happened to ingest it, she would be fine. Can you say that with other cleaners on the market?
I have eliminated all of my household cleaners, and I now use Thieves Cleaner to clean: toilets, kitchen counters, stove top, sinks, mirrors, bathtubs, tables, microwave, oven, washing machine, dryer, refrigerator. . .
There is one cleaner that still is in use in our home, and that is the floor cleaner. My husband will not let go of his floor cleaner. He prefers mopping with what he is used to instead of the Thieves Cleaner. (I’m working on him; remember, it is a process.) If anyone has any floor cleaner recipes using Thieves Cleaner, please do share : )
This cleaner lasts a long time, so I also save money with this switch. How awesome is that? Everyone enjoys saving money, right?
If you are looking to make the switch to a natural, non-toxic household cleaner, look no further. The Thieves Household Cleaner is what you are looking for. Give it a try; I know you will love it as much as I do!
